Just one minute before the polls closed she tweeted, “I am so thankful for every single person who contributed, amplified, and worked to establish this movement. Never forget the hard work it took to get us here. No matter what happens, this is what it takes.”
About a year ago, Ocasio was working in a bar to help support her family. And today, the incredible 29-year-old became the youngest woman to ever be elected to Congress.
Once again she proved the undeniable powers of grassroots campaign. She campaigned until the very last minute before the polls closed.
The major highlights of her campaign were the abolition of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, tuition-free college, a federal jobs guarantee, universal Medicare, gun control, an end to end private prisons and access to affordable housing.
She earned support from about 78 percent of the voters; this didn’t come as a surprise, seeing how she campaigned throughout the season, round the clock, holding town hall meetings around her district as well as supporting fellow candidates from the democratic party.
She worked really hard.
After she the won the New York’s 14th District, she thanked her supporters in a victory speech She says “A new world is possible”.
