“I am very delighted therefore, to use this singular opportunity to announce to the world that my client is the very person seen in the pictures /video. That I can confirm authoritatively”, said Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer.
Kanu’s younger brother said his family received the news through a shared online video. However, he says they are yet to speak with him. “I can confirm to you that the person in the video is Kanu. He was praying in the video that we saw. We are happy that he is still alive and we will try to establish communication with him.” He said.
Kanu’s home was invaded over a year ago by some soldiers during a military exercise titled ‘Operation Python Dance II’. Since then, he had been missing. No one could tell where he was, his group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had accused the Nigerian Military of taking him. There were even speculations that he was killed by the Army. His sureties couldn’t give an account of where he was, this almost got them into trouble in court.
Needless to say that ‘Operation Python Dance II’, is one of the countless atrocities and evil committed by this current government. Well, to the presidency, it was a success. Why not? It achieved its aim. Got the Biafra agitators cowed and silenced.
Sometimes, I almost wish this military operation had been ordered by Jonathan’s government. Perhaps, we wouldn’t have been in this mess. Perhaps, we wouldn’t have had this current administration. Perhaps, the agitators would have been silenced long ago and they would have voted in the 2015 elections. Above all, I wish we had saved the many lives that were wasted.
Do I believe the Biafra agitators have every right to cry out? Of course, I do. I am crying out too. Although I cry out for something different from what they seek. I cry out for more inclusion.
Nnamdi Kanu is to make a live broadcast on Sunday on Radio Biafra.
I hope his followers have been reduced to the barest minimum.
I hope he doesn’t tell his followers to sit at home on election day.
