Nikki Haley, Trump’s ambassador to the U.N resigned. Her resignation letter dated 3rd October 2018.
Nikki said serving as the U.S ambassador to the U.N has been “the honor of a lifetime.” “It’s been eight years of intense time and I’m a believer in term limits,” she said, referring to her six-year tenure as governor of South Carolina and two years as ambassador. “I think you have to be selfless enough to know when you step aside.” Haley said.
As a South Carolina Governor, Nikki Haley was very well outspoken in her criticism of Trump during the 2016 campaign. She has also publicly disagreed with Trump on some occasions during her tenure as U.N Ambassador.
In the Oval office, Nikki and Trump confirmed that she would be leaving his administration at the end of the year. “We’re all happy for you in one way, but hate to lose you,” Trump said, sitting alongside Haley. “At the end of the year, Nikki will be leaving.”
On her replacement, Trump praised Nikki for “the fantastic” job she’s done and stated she would be involved in picking her replacement. He said he is also considering other people “I have heard a lot of names,” he said. “I have heard Ivanka, I have heard how good would Ivanka be? The people that know, it’s nothing to do with nepotism, but I want to tell you that the people that know, know that Ivanka would be dynamite, but eh you know so I don’t be accused of nepotism. Even though I am not sure there is anybody confident in the world but that’s okay. We are looking at numerous people”
Trump is scared of being accused of nepotism? Are you kidding me? Nah Nah, not the Donald Trump we all know. Dude can’t be bothered about being accused of anything. If Trump has concerns about appointing his daughter Ivanka the U.N Ambassador, it definitely would be for another reason, like say “she’s not competent”, definitely not because he would be accused of nepotism.
