Former Kano State Governor, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso said he regrets supporting Buhari against Jonathan in 2014. “Nigerians are fed up with the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and would be happy seeing PDP return to power.” He said, “I am sure other people like me that dumped the PDP to support President Muhammadu Buhari in 2014 against the then President Goodluck Jonathan are currently regretting their actions.” “From North to South, the citizens are looking for a government that would not pay emphasis on religion, ethnicity and culture but national development.” He added.
Almost everyone who supported Buhari and who is instrumental to his coming to power, except of course those who personally dip their hands in the cookie jar; regrets supporting him. I didn’t vote for him, but I can’t help but blame myself for not putting my foot down and publicly shown my disapproval. Not like this would have made any much difference, but I am sure it would have helped me be at peace with myself.
Fast forward to three (3) years later, here we are again eager and desperate to change the leadership. We are all throwing our backs on Atiku Abubakar, very much willing to forget about his ‘dark’ past, “ANYTHING BUT BUHARI”. Most people would vote for Atiku not so much for his being the best man for the job, but to keep the incumbent far away from the seat as possible.
I do not know what to think, I am more fearful than I am hopeful. I hope Atiku is it. I hope this is not 2014 all over again.
