Willful Naivety

When Kingsley Moghalu loses the presidential election, blame his willful naivety. Moghalu came out fighting. However, he fought like a westerner. He closed his ear to Nigeria’s reality.

He does not fit the descriptions of a stereotypical Nigerian. Perhaps, this could be the reason he misunderstood Nigerians. Yes, Nigerians are one of the most misunderstood people in Africa. Most of the time, we don’t quite understand each other to say nothing of a man who has spent more than half of his life outside the country.

What separates Moghalu from the average Nigerian politician is too tangible.

“I will be the next president of Nigeria.” – He affirmed, immediately after the presidential debate. This statement, of course, came from that part of the mind that imagines things. And this is good. After all, imagination is its own form of courage. But on its own, imagination is not enough.

When it comes to winning elections, money is as essential as power. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan had the former, nevertheless, he lacked the later. “But how could that have been possible, he was the Commander-in-Chief? you ask. Well, you cannot truly lay claims to power when you are out of touch with the happenings around you. Whatever you are, whatever you become, do not ever be clueless.

So if a man who had one of the two elements that win elections didn’t succeed, what was the person who lacked both doing in the race?

Moghalu’s oversight started with PACT. He was unable to attract attention to himself and advance his own interest.

In politics, all over the world, you need to PLAY. Back the right man. Get the right people to back you.

Moghalu right up until the end fails to come to terms with the sad reality that Nigeria’s political party system is a two-party system. Ever since Nigeria became a democracy, two major parties have always dominated the political landscape. The incumbent and strong opposition. This is not ideal, but that is the situation, and sadly, it is not going to change anytime soon. Moghalu could have gotten his finger up the right ass.

Most Nigerian Electorates vote for the political parties rather than the candidates. This reality sickens me.

If there is anyone ever equipped to confront the inhuman, to confront evil itself, to bring Nigeria out from this Economic collapse, that person is Kingsley Moghalu.

Nigeria today, is confronted with the most horrific aspect of inhumanity. Inhumanity that has defiled all forms of reasoning. Terror is blind to reason. And all we can come up with is recycling leaders. Leaders that failed us in the past. What are we afraid of? I think this has gone beyond happenstance. Nigeria detests trying new things.

When Kingsley Moghalu loses the presidential election, it is only a stumble, not a fall. I hope he comes out to try next time. I hope he comes to terms with the peculiarity of his environment and embraces it. And most importantly, I hope that he will have his finger up the right ass.
