This Thing about Orderliness…

“I want things kept this way”

“the toothbrush stays here and nowhere else”

“who moved my phone charger from here”.” it’s always got to be here, why don’t you get it?”

“you have to suffer before you make money, things don’t just come to you”

“Jane and John sitting in the tree. K-i-s-s-i-n-g. first comes love. Then comes marriage. Then comes a baby in the baby carriage, sucking his thumb, wetting his pants, doing the hula, hula, hula dance!”

People think it is cool, to be seen to be orderly. They often times equate it to “having your life together”. This, I think is one of the biggest deceits of mankind.

Young, single men think it is sexy and appealing. Well, to the superficial young women, it could be.

I am always skeptical when I step into a well-kept room, everything sparkling and arranged. Only place permitted to be that way is a hotel room. You know why? No one is expected to live there forever.

I hate dirt. But, you see orderliness, I am not charmed by it.

There’s this thing about orderliness.

It readily slides into conformity over time.

Over time, in my interactions with people, I often find out that people who are particular about how certain things are done and how things are kept, do conform.

The shoes are not on the shoe rack. And so bloody what?

You’d be making the greatest mistake if you think this write-up is all about your house arrangement.

Who cares about that?

You know one more thing about people who try to ‘keep it together’? They are mostly resentful. Petty resentments.

So you get back home and someone moved your headset from where you have kept it for the miserable two years of your life. So what?

These small humans spend their lives trying to keep others down. They tell you, you are the one with the issues. You are the one who needs help.

Run! Run! From conformity. From orderliness. Run. Don’t look back. Be glad when you run.

Have you ever seen tragedy accompanied by relief? You would if only you can lift your body and run.
