“Happy Independence Day”- read the text message I got from my Father early this morning. One of the text messages he never forgets to send around; I have gotten this text from him every October 1 ever since I started using a mobile phone. His belief in Nigeria never wavering. What a hopeful and patriotic man!
Nigeria is 58 years today, and a lot is expected of her. Her problems are endless, if I am to list them, where do I start from? Do I start from the fact that after 58 years, she still can’t refine her own crude oil? Or that she still struggles to generate 5000mega watts of power? Or that she has illiterates and unprogressive minds at the helm of her affairs? Or that she has claimed to be a Democracy for almost 19 years, yet doesn’t have a full comprehension of what running a democratic Government is all about? The list is endless. And really I am beginning to have a headache, so I would end the list here.
What she needs is a PLAN. Nigeria needs a plan to work with. She needs a leader with a plan. She needs a leader with solid and workable strategies. She needs her citizens to be radical this time. Nigerians, take back your Land. Take back your destinies! Elect a leader who makes sense. Elect a Leader with a PLAN!
