Instead of being in the moment, a fickle person would rather dissect the moment while in it. Every now and then, we tend to change our minds on what we want. I do this too. Sometimes, I make plans to be at a party and later on decide to stay at home and read a book instead. But I never change my mind on basic life principles or shift from what makes me who I am, or stop being the person I once portrayed myself to other people.
Most Nigerians are fickle people.
Do you know what you are left with for following a fickle person? For believing in what the person believed in because he/she once made a compelling argument that made a lot of sense to you?
Wasted Years.
In a space of about 3 days, Kemi Adeosun, Former Minister of Finance, went from being a fraud to being the victim. All of a sudden we are all willing to forget that the person who was entrusted with managing ‘our’ finances, was okay with forgery, and perhaps had been blackmailed into doing some things off the book to prevent this act from getting out.
After all, she has resigned.
Again, most Nigerians are fickle people except the guy in Aso Rock. He has been consistent from day one. If anyone had any doubt about his statement at the US Institute of Peace where he said “I hope you have a copy of the election results. The constituents, for example, gave me 97% (of the vote) cannot, in all honesty, be treated on some issues with constituencies that gave me 5%.”, with the recent appointments and replacements, I hope your doubts have been cleared. How about his speech at his inauguration, where he said: “I am for everybody and I am for nobody”? Has he not proven that he is actually for his Hausa brothers? Well, we all know he didn’t write that speech. He only read it out.
Had this not been an election season, would Adeosun have been asked to resign? Or in their own words, would the president have accepted Adeosun’s resignation?
