IF I WERE KEMI ADEOSUN,

So many are alarmed by the deafening silence which has followed the allegation of National Youth Service Corps exemption certificate forgery involving the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun.

Contrary to the requirement that every Nigerian Below the age of 30 participates in a mandatory year-long national service upon graduating from the university or any other institution of similar status, it has been alleged that the minister did not only evade the service but also presented a forged certificate to show that she was fittingly exempted.

I participated in the mandatory national service too, and it wasn’t such a horrible experience but I didn’t find it enjoyable either. I would have given anything if I could, to avoid it. There was nothing about the experience that I relish, I didn’t even like the uniform! So my problem with these allegations against the Finance Minister is not that she didn’t participate, rather, it is that she presented a FORGED certificate. Now, that is the crime.

Premium Times understands, the Senate, which received the fake certificate as part of her confirmation hearing, detected the discrepancy. But nonetheless proceeded to clear her for the office. Recently, it was reported that she illegally approved billions of naira for the National Assembly. If this report is anything close to the truth, no doubt the leadership of the National Assembly has used this information to blackmail and extort Adeosun for years.

This administration led by the President may have failed on all their promises, but President Buhari’s audible silence on salient issues have been consistent. So those waiting for Kemi Adeosun, the Senate, presidency to speak may end up waiting forever.

If I were Kemi Adeosun, whose Commander-in-chief has obviously redefined INTEGRITY, I wouldn’t even bother trying to explain myself.
